It's always hard to get a shot right in the woodlands. What you see with your own, fabulous eyes is often not what you get through a camera lens limited in dynamic range, and depth of field. Add all the typical clutter and ivy one can find in an Irish wood and you can appreciate the challenge. Still, that should not stop anyone from trying. The middle to the end of April is a great time to get busy in Coole Park as wild flowers are out!
To scale and add depth to your image, nothing beats shadow from a sun rising behind, or mist. The latter is harder to get in a lush, thriving woodland in spring, but you should always keep an eye on forecast as it can still develop and shroud the woods for a wee while!
